THE ARTIST
Born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. Obtained a B.Sc. degree in Landscape Architecture at University of Belgrade. Completed ikebana courses and participated in numerous floral design exhibitions. Worked as the manager of the Floral Department at the Inter-Continental Hotel in Belgrade from 1981 to 1992. From Spring of 1992 worked as a freelance landscape architect, where her customers included the Canadian Embassy in Belgrade. Moved to Ottawa in mid-1993 where she works as an independent artist.

Major interests include nature, people, design and travel. Visiting or living in numerous countries throughout the world (Italy, Russia, China, Greece, Israel, Sweden, Cuba, Germany, Uzbekistan, Belize) gained valuable experience and major insights about peoples' lives and interactions with their environment, their needs, hopes, and esthetic values.

Complemented by life-long studies in the areas of psychology and comparative religion and mythology, these experiences resulted in a dynamic view of human condition which permeates all collages: people constrained by time, stretched between conscious and subconscious, determined by the past, and perplexed by their dreams, desires, and the eternal need to reach the unknown.

COLLAGES
After years of experimenting with different art forms discovered the collage in 1986. Immediately captivated by the opportunities and challenges of creating a new eclectic reality by finding and combining apparently unrelated photographs from contemporary magazines. Since coming to Canada and focusing on art as a profession, collages became the main form of expression and artistic communication.

TECHNIQUE
Works in the traditional paper on paper technique, without aid of computer tools and with minimal use of drawing, painting and other materials. The creative process happens during the lengthy search for images and the subsequent selection and composition of photographs to match the artist's ideas. Often frustrating, limitations of available shapes, sizes and colours interact with the original visions and sometimes create surprising new insights.
