I never understood T.S.Eliot's line "I have measured out my life with coffee spoons".
I took it to be a measure of trivial time, days passing between afternoon teas.
I've seen a different meaning ... a man's worth reckoned in trivial ways:
by income, by clothes, even by expensive dental work!
Seen it and despised the small measures.
